Copy & Paste
Rather than printing out the entire "Hoot" it should be copied and pasted on to a "Word Document". Then it can be printed.
I frequently get asked "how do I copy and paste?" .. so I have put together some instructions on how to do it. Once you have tried this and you still don't get it, contact me at susanbrowne@rubiesroost.com and I give you some additional assistance.
HOW TO COPY AND PASTE IN 3 EASY STEPS
STEP 1 - highlight
You need to highlight what you want to copy
- Place your mouse arrow in front (to the right) of the word(s) you want to copy
- When the arrow changes to a line that looks like a capitol "I" click your left mouse button and hold it.
- still holding the left mouse button down, drag or pull the line across and highlight every thing you want to copy
- Let you left mouse button go.
Everything you want to copy should be highlighted, if not try it again, sometimes it is a little tricky until you get the hang of it.
STEP 2 - copy
NOW - there are 3 different ways you can copy... the results will be the same
FIRST WAY:
- Place your mouse arrow in the center of the highlighted area and press the right mouse button...a shortcut toolbar will open up.
- Click on the word "copy" and go to step 3 -paste
SECOND WAY:
Go up to the top of you screen or where ever your menu bar is and open "edit"
Click on the word "copy" go to step 3 - paste
THIRD WAY (more complicated):
- Look on your tool bar and see if you have a tool appearing there that looks like 2 documents sort'a on top of each other. When you just place your mouse arrow on it, the word "copy" will appear. Click you left mouse button on it one time. If it is not there, in your toolbar don't, worry you don't have it showing in your toolbar and I do not want to go into the instructions on how to get it in your tool bar. So right clicking procedure will work just fine, it does the same thing
- go to step 3 - paste
STEP 3 - paste
NOTE: If you are coping from a page of a web site, you will want to open a word document to paste what ever you are copying. If you don't already have a word document open, just minimize the web page you're on by clicking with your left mouse button at the top of the page on the first box with the dash line in the bottom. Once you have opened a word document look at the bottom of your screen and click on the minimized web site and bring it back up.
- Place your curser (flashing line on screen) where you want to paste your copied item and click using the left mouse button.
- Now you can paste using one of the same 3 ways you copied
FIRST WAY - press the right mouse button and click on "Paste" when the box appears.
SECOND WAY - go to the menu bar usually on top and open edit and click on "paste".
THIRD WAY - if you have the tool bar on your screen near your menu bar and you can find the picture of a clipboard with a document on it, place you arrow on it and the word "paste" will appear and click.
NOTE: to copy an e-mail address from an email message, follow the same procedure but often if you don't get the highlighting quite right it will try to create a new message to that address. If that happens just close it and try again.
Good Luck!
